Organization Documents: Testimony to City Council
Today Wireless Philadelphia will brief City Council's Committee on Technology and Information Services on the status of the Wireless Philadelphia Initiative. We welcome this opportunity to report our progress and the promise this Initiative holds.
My testimony will highlight many of our accomplishments, including the partnerships we have forged with over 30 community partners and the funding relationships we have established with 30 different sources. Through these relationships, we are providing hardware and internet service to single parents transitioning from welfare to work, foster children moving into independence, ex-offenders re-entering the community, and many other groups. These relationships, created in just over one year of operations, represent the beginning of a citywide movement toward Digital Inclusion and WP's vision of “The Entire City – Connected.”
Are you joking? Wireless Philadelphia is a mess. I just spent 2 months getting the run around from earthlink after paying 40 dollars to get wireless internet in what i was told was a "high-coverage" area. I had no service for 2 months, then was told there would be no refund and I owed them money!! And this is a very common experience in Philly with wirelss philadelphia. I know this site is for PR purposes, but come on! It is falling apart.
